Registered with the BVI Non-Profit Organization Board, VISAR is a non-government organization operated by 50+ volunteer crew members, a small administration team of two, and an annual operating budget of USD 250,000, generated from donations and fundraising initiatives.
These donations safeguard that our volunteer crew is trained and up to date with the international industry standards for search and rescue. The majority of the funds are allocated to the following areas:
Your donation goes to ensure our mission of “Saving Lives at Sea” is free to anyone in need.
VISAR takes pride in that we will never say “NO”.
Mail a cheque from within the BVI to VISAR | PO Box 3042 | Road Town | Tortola | VG1110, or stop into our base in Road Reef Marina or Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour.
Mail a cheque from outside the BVI to VISAR | 1 Aeropost Way | EIS 6798 | Miami | FL 33206-3206
For US Residents who would like to make a tax-deductible donation, we work with AFRAS (Association For Rescue At Sea), a 501(c)3 organization. Visit their website at www.rescueatsea.org to learn more and make a “targeted donation.” Please make sure to annotate that VISAR is the beneficiary of your donation.
For UK Residents who would like to make a tax relief claim, we work with THE UK TRUST that helps VISAR and aids in relief for SAR’s in Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, and Barbados. For more details on how to donate, email [email protected].
Business Extra from American Airlines will match your mileage!
By adding VISAR’s Business Extra number 793004 to your AAdvantage profile, you will receive your miles, and VISAR will receive points. In this way, you help us fly search and rescue experts to the BVI, who will train our crew, keeping them up to date with the latest knowledge and skills, and send crew members to attend international boat shows to spread awareness about our mission of Saving Lives At Sea.

This is the backbone of our organization to generate our yearly operating budget. Three events make up an integral part: The Governors Gourmet Gathering, held at the home of the BVI Governor, Swim & SUP the Sound – a Family Fun Day – held at North Sound in Virgin Gorda, and Winter Wonderland, the ice-skating rink held at the Tortola Pier Park.
