Time of call: 1726, Time of Launch: 1745
North side of Tortola, a call came in from onlooker to say he could hear yelling and see two persons in the water. Spirit made their way around and arrived on scene at 1755. An additional responder was dispatched on land at the top of the hill looking down into the area. Unable to find persons in the water, Spirit continuing to search until the individuals were found and the responders could assess the situation. Upon questioning the VISAR crew ascertained that they were the correct individuals but were not in any distress. Once satisfied that they were indeed OK, Spirit returned to base.
Please note: this was a false alarm but it could so easily have been an emergency. VISAR personnel would rather you made a mistake than risk lives. Never be afraid to call us for advice or help. We have already chalked this one down as a training session! Thank you Good Samaritan.
