Thursday, December 24, 2009Cruise ship day trip breaks down
Time of call: 1240, Time of Launch: Auxiliary
A call came in from a day charter boat reporting it had broken down and was drifting with 30 passengers on board. The count was actually 3! As there were no injuries and though drifting, in no imminent danger, the coordinator advised the vessel that it was actually a commercial Salvage assistance and not VISAR. With this established the VISAR coordinator contacted the local salvage company. Though the skipper requested to be dropped off at the ship, it was extremely choppy and unsuitable for the safety of their passengers. They were set ashore at Village Cay safe and well.
