US citizens can make charitable contributions to VISAR

AFRAS is an organization with charitable status in the US so you may be entitled receive US tax deductions with respect to your donation to VISAR, subject  to US law and your specific tax circumstances.  AFRAS will retain a 5% processing fee of the amount donated to VISAR.  Please obtain  professional tax advice concerning your individual tax situation.

Much of the money raised by VISAR throughout the year comes from events which the dedicated fund raising committee organize. Events take place throughout the year on both Tortola and Virgin Gorda. If you are in the BVI, we very much hope to see you at our events.

Many people who have been assisted by VISAR's volunteers take the time to write a letter and to send a donation to mark their gratitude for the services which we provide. Our volunteers meet each Monday evening, and all letters of thanks are read out to the crew during the meeting - the thought is very much appreciated.

VISAR produces a newsletter called "LifeLine" twice a year. This publication gives members, supporters and members of the public easy access to current information about VISAR's activities, our shouts, support VISAR has received, forthcoming events and general information relevant to the search & rescue world of which we form a part. All members receive a copy of Lifeline in the post. Feel free to download past editions of Lifeline.

Boat launched 12:44

Received call about suspected jellyfish encounter near Norman Island.  VISAR crew launched Spirit of Tortola II and met vessel in Sir Francis Drake Channel.  After boarding and performing primary assesment, VISAR crew treated patient for jellyfish stings and transferred casualty to Spirit of Tortola II.   Crew and casualty headed to Road harbor base.   Casualty transported to Peebles Hospital by car for further treatment.

Report of person needing medial attention on Jost Van Dyke.

Spirit of Tortola II launched and proceeded to Great Harbor, JVD.  VISAR crew members met patient and JVD clinic nurse at dock in Great Harbor.  Patient transported to waiting ambulance at Jolly Roger dock on Tortola's west end.  VISAR crew returned to base after patient was in care of ambulance crew and en route to Peebles Hospital for further medcal care.

VISAR crew lauched Spirit of Tortola II and arrived at  vessel near Norman Island.  Crew boarded vessel and performed primary assesment.  Crew stayed aboard vessel and were escorted to Road Harbor by Spirit of Tortola II.  VISAR crew returned to their vessel and headed to Road Harbor base.  Casualty transported to Peebles by car for further medical care.
